Los Angeles-based interior designer Cliff Fong of Matt Blacke Inc. knows that to craft a livable yet luxurious interior, you need a thoughtful design.
With a fashion background as a buyer and stylist, Fong uses his wide range of aesthetic influences to craft layered, collected interiors where casual elements and sophisticated, elegant style mesh, resulting in downright-enviable spaces.
Subdued palettes and wise-with-age vintage pieces combine with contemporary elements to create personal environments perfectly suited to the designer’s discerning clientele.
Cliff Fong worked with Glee and American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy on his Spanish Colonial Revival residence located a few blocks from the Beverly Hills Hotel. Fong and Murphy created eclectic interiors mixing ranch-inspired, period-correct furniture, contemporary art and photography and AHS-worthy objects.
The designer also counts Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi among his A-list clients.
Although his projects to date have been largely residential, Cliff has designed some notable commercial spaces including Madison Gallery, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent, and Michael Voltaggio’s Ink restaurant in Los Angeles. He also is one of the owners of Melrose’s Galerie Half, a sprawling emporium that sells 20th century design, European antiques, architectural elements, and art.
