Kim Hostler and Juliet Burrows founded their New York gallery (Hostler Burrows) in 1998 and have consistently led the evolving market of Nordic design, championing and promoting the work of Scandinavian and American designers of the twentieth century.
The gallery focuses on exceptional and unique examples of studio ceramics, cabinetmaker furniture and hand-woven textiles by the master artisans and architects of the period.
Since its inception, the gallery has been a leader in mid twentieth century Scandinavian design, exhibiting and championing the work of artists such as Axel Salto, Berndt Friberg, Josef Frank, and Finn Juhl, and fueling the international acclaim and demand which they have garnered over the last decade.
Hostler Burrows continues to exhibit the finest examples of work by architects, designers and artisans working in Sweden, Denmark and Finland from 1920-1970.
The integrity and superb craftsmanship of the design emerging from this pivotal period in Scandinavian history are undeniable, and the work endures and has relevance in the midst of the current trends of the contemporary art and design world.
